Cinematography is the result of a journey of complimentary disciplines. First he worked his way up to Producer from runner/researcher in commercials production, and then via film school in Paris he became a DoP.
Andrew's experience is rich and varied in which he has worked on feature film, broadcast documentary, music videos, branded content, short films and advertising.
Andrew plans his shoots in detail, giving him the flexibility when production demands it, he has the ability to think on his feet producing quick, innovative and effective solutions to interesting situations.
He learned the film-trade from the bottom, first as a runner, AD, location scout, and as an assistant camera (clapper/loader). Complimenting his employers work by combining film work with photography, becoming an experienced stills assistant for fashion, portraits and advertising, and a published photographer. As a director's assistant he was part production team part camera crew before he spent a couple of years at RSA Films as a production manager, leading to five years Producing for legendary British photographer David Bailey.
Having produced for David Bailey he took to his passion for photography and film to film school in Paris to apply structure and story to his work, and was in demand as a Director of Photography on many short films, leading to him staying on at the school to teach camera and lighting to the first-year students and work as a DoP.
This route to cinematography having worked for highly creative, exacting and demanding employers gives him significant breadth and depth across film genre and photography.
