Andrew has worked on feature films, advertising, broadcast, live, documentary, music videos, branded content, and short films, working his way up from runner/researcher to producer via commercials production, then to Director of Photography via film school in Paris.
Andrew is a versatile cinematographer; he plans his shoots in detail, but is equally able to think on his feet, flexible to shifting situations as required. He never lets up, producing strong images that work to the narrative and express the director's vision, a brand's values, or a producer's requirements. Years of experience mean he can provide quick, innovative and effective solutions to any challenges that arise during a production.
Andrew learned the film-trade from the bottom, first as a runner, AD, location scout, and then as an assistant camera (clapper/loader). Complementing his employer's work by combining film work with photography, he became an experienced stills assistant for fashion, portraits and advertising, and later a published photographer. As a director's assistant he was part production team, part camera crew, before spending a couple of years at RSA Films as a production manager, followed by five years producing for legendary British photographer David Bailey.
He then pursued his passion for photography and film to film school in Paris, learning to apply structure and story to his bold imagery, and was in demand as a Director of Photography on many short films, leading him to stay on at the school after graduation to teach camera and lighting to the first-year students, as well as working as a freelance DoP.
Having worked for highly creative, exacting and demanding employers, Andrew has significant breadth and depth of experience across film genres and photography.
